Lagos Waste Conversion Initiatives to Attract Foreign Investment

The Lagos State Government has affirmed that the Waste conversion initiatives being undertaken in the state is set to attract foreign investment. This Revelation was made on the sidelines of the on-going Conference of Parties (COP28) Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Governor of Lagos State , Babajide Sanwo-Olu, confirmed that investors are prepared to invest in the state’s waste conversion initiatives. He stated that the Waste Conversion initiatives of the State Government garnered a lot of interest after it was pitched to potential investors, during the summit.  The governor expressed his excitement, following the participation of the Lagos State Government at the ongoing 28th session of the Conference of Parties (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He disclosed that he had the chance to announce this development and also present Phase Two of the Lagos Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan (LCARP) to the state’s global partners.

Sanwo-olu outlined the details of the partnerships – “Two waste conversion initiatives that we presented at the global climate summit have garnered significant interest from investors”. These projects are the Advanced Garbage Collection and Waste-to-Energy project, as well as the construction of a new Sewage Treatment Plant.” The governor said.

He also revealed that he had the chance to announce this development and also present Phase Two of the Lagos Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan (LCARP) to the state’s global partners. According to him, this progress represents a significant step forward in the journey towards achieving environmental sustainability and resilience in Lagos state. The governor said the move demonstrated his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Lagosians and maintaining the state’s status as a haven of progress. Sanwo-Olu added that Lagos state’s engagement at COP28 is driven by the goal of increasing collaboration and partnership to address the collective threat of climate change.
