Wike, the Minister of the FCT, said that President Tinubu instructed him to “bring back the city.” In an interview with Channels Television, Wike said that Tinubu has tasked him with reviving the FCT.

Wike said that one of the immediate needs of the Nigerian capital city is the Abuja metro rail. He recalled that Tinubu had mentioned the metro rail at the NBA conference, saying, “Mr Landlord, I want to ride on the metroline.”

Wike said that he had also discussed the metro rail with Tinubu before his appointment as Minister of the FCT, but that he did not realize at the time that Tinubu was hinting at his future role.

Wike said that Tinubu’s statement at the NBA conference, “The landlord of Abuja, I want to ride on your metroline,” was a clear directive.
