The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) has released a statement calling for the prosecution of a suspect who allegedly posed as an engineer but was actually a builder. The suspect was arrested in connection with the collapse of a building in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, which claimed the life of one person and injured five others.

In a statement, CORBON said that building is a profession regulated by their council and that the suspect is not listed in their register of licensed builders.

They also emphasized that no registered builder has been involved in any collapsed building in Nigeria.

CORBON urged the public to only engage registered builders for construction projects and offered their support in maintaining sanity in the built industry to prevent future incidents.
