Shiba Inu (SHIB) lead developer Shytoshi Kusama has revealed that the project has three new partnerships. The first of them has “dry ink,” meaning that the deal is sealed. The second is “focused around technology and furthering grand causes.” And the third, which is yet to be revealed, is apparently “worthy of raised glasses.” It is unclear whom these partnerships are with, but the news has got the community riled up.
However, one comment from the lead developer has caught everyone’s attention. Kusama stated, “SHIB > X.” This has led people to speculate if one of the partnerships is with Elon Musk’s X (formerly known as Twitter) or if Shiba Inu (SHIB) is developing its own decentralized social media platform.

Furthermore, speaking on the “equation,” the Shiba Inu (SHIB) developer tweeted that he “won’t ELONgate it.” This is another hint that the team could be working on something with Musk, or could be working on a rival platform.
Kusama also said that the team would “X-plain” why Shiba Inu (SHIB) would be better than “X.” This gives weight to the argument that SHIB could be working on a decentralized social media platform to rival Musk’s X. Kusama also highlighted that SHIB is better than “any token that makes you scan your eyeballs,” probably taking a shot at Worldcoin.
Shiba Inu’s price skyrockets
SHIB is currently the second-best performing crypto project among the top 100 cryptos in the weekly charts. The token is up by 19% over the previous week and by 2% in the last 24 hours.
The rally is likely because of Shibarium launch rumors and the news about BitPay’s “Bill Pay” service, which allows people in the U.S. to pay bills using SHIB. Kusama has hinted via X hashtags that the Shibarium layer-2 network will launch “very soon.” However, we still do not have an exact launch date. The launch has been pushed back multiple times due to developmental delays. However, it seems that we might finally be getting the network this time around.
