34 Countries Confirm they Will Attend BRICS Summit

With more than 60 countries invited to the event, there have already been 34 countries that have confirmed they will attend the upcoming BRICS summit. Indeed, South Africa’s Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor, noted confirmations amidst the host of invitations that may well join the event.

The BRICS summit is poised to be one of the most important events in the bloc’s history. Moreover, it is likely to be the setting for the development of expansionary guidelines for the bloc. Subsequently, the 34 are likely to have already shown interest in exploring membership in the alliance.

BRICS Summit Sees 34 Countries Confirm Attendance

The year thus far has seen the BRICS economic alliance experience a rising prevalence that has never been seen before. However, that prevalence is set to escalate into a potential expansion that could transform the geopolitical power balance. Moreover, countries seeking to be part of that expansion are eager to attend the event.

Now, amid the more than 60 invitations, 34 countries have confirmed they will attend the BRICS summit in August. Specifically, South Africa’s Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor, discussed attending nations. Subsequently stating the countries that have already confirmed their participation.

“The President invited 67 leaders from Africa and the Global South to participate in this activity, with at least 34 countries confirmed so far,” Pandor stated. However, she also noted that French President Emmanuel Macron was not invited to the event. Despite his interest in potentially attending.

The two-day BRICS summit will begin on August 22nd and should be vitally important to the trajectory of the bloc. Moreover, the massive guest list already indicates interest from the global south. Showing that expansion is firmly in the hands of the bloc, with the interest necessary to make it happen.
