Africa is increasingly asserting its voice on the global stage, not just through economic growth or natural resources, but through soft power—the ability to shape international opinion through culture, diplomacy, business, and influence.

The 2026 Brand Finance Global Soft Power Index measures how countries are perceived worldwide, combining surveys and perception metrics to rank nations based on their global appeal and influence. While the United States tops the list with a score of 74.9, followed closely by China at 73.5, several African nations are making their mark.

Leading Africa is Egypt, ranked 40th globally with a score of 44.8, followed by South Africa at 43rd with 44.2, and Morocco at 50th with 40.6. These rankings highlight Africa’s growing influence through regional diplomacy, cultural exports, and business engagement, showing that the continent’s voice is increasingly recognised on the world stage.
