Ethio telecom, in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, has officially launched E-Tamrt, a modern B2B e-commerce platform that aims to connect manufacturing industries across Ethiopia and accelerate their move toward digital commerce.

As the leading partner in the initiative, Ethio telecom played a central role in developing the platform, which enables manufacturers to access inputs more efficiently and distribute their products to domestic and African markets in a cost-effective manner.

Speaking at the launch event, Minister of Industry H.E. Melaku Alebel highlighted the platform’s potential to strengthen Ethiopia’s manufacturing sector:

“A manufacturing industry without a modern marketing system cannot thrive. E-Tamrt will play a key role in boosting production capacity, encouraging innovation, and enhancing our country’s sustainable competitiveness on the international stage.”

The platform is also expected to support Ethiopia’s transition from a consumer-based economy to a manufacturing-driven one, while helping reduce reliance on imported goods by enhancing the competitiveness of locally produced products.

Representatives from the manufacturing sector welcomed the launch, describing E-Tamrt as a “new chapter of hope” that addresses market and supply chain challenges and improves the competitiveness of domestic industrial products.
