The Federal Government has graciously delivered 100 environmentally-friendly two-bedroom dwellings, complete with urban farming areas, to widows in Rigachikun, Kaduna State, as part of the Family Homes Funds Limited Social Housing Programme.

In a heartfelt statement shared by The Presidency on X this past Wednesday, titled “Delivering Renewed Hope, One Home at a Time,” it was conveyed that this initiative exemplifies President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to inclusive growth and the empowerment of vulnerable groups through sustainable housing solutions.

“These homes embody much more than mere physical edifices; they signify revitalized hope and reinstated dignity, especially for the 100 tenacious women uplifted through this endeavor,” remarked Demola Adebise, Chairman of Family Homes Funds Limited.

He further emphasized that the development represents “a pioneering model of social housing implementation in Nigeria—one that merges homeownership with vocational training, support for livelihoods, and eco-friendly construction practices.”

A remarkable facet of this project is its inspirational origin; the widows united their land and reached out to the Federal Government via FHFL to construct affordable sanctuaries for themselves—this collaborative effort has now yielded not only shelter but also livelihood assistance and a paradigm for inclusive growth.

Every residence was constructed utilizing Expanded Polystyrene System technology, effectively cutting construction expenses and carbon emissions by as much as 40 percent. The homes are furnished with solar energy systems, while beneficiaries also accessed vocational training and small-scale agricultural yards for food production and processing, fostering food and income security.
