As Kenya accelerates the rollout of 100,000 kilometers of fiber infrastructure, 25,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots, and a nationwide network of digital hubs, sustained collaboration between the government and the private sector remains vital to achieving the country’s digital transformation goals.

During a meeting at the Ministry Headquarters, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau met with Dr. Andile Ngcaba, a prominent African technology investor and founder known for spearheading major infrastructure projects such as SEACOM, the first undersea fiber-optic cable system linking Africa’s East Coast.

Their discussion centered on Kenya’s National Connectivity Programme, a key component of the Digital Superhighway under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). The two leaders explored strategies for expanding broadband infrastructure, building local capacity, and engaging communities in the deployment and maintenance of digital infrastructure.

Hon. William Kabogo Gitau said:

I reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for private sector investment. Together, we aim to ensure that data in Kenya remains accessible, affordable, and of high quality, driving inclusive growth and shared digital prosperity for all.

The meeting highlighted Kenya’s determination to leverage technology as a catalyst for inclusive growth, digital equity, and enhanced national competitiveness.
