China has outpaced the US in clean and green energy, while the US is still selling fossil fuels. The Communist country is exporting green energy technologies around the world for institutional purposes. The usage of clean energy includes electric vehicles, solar panels, batteries, and other carbon-cutting technologies. The demand for green energy has been on the rise for a decade, and China is now dominating the sector.

Compared to the US, China has exported $120 billion in green technology and hit a record high in August. The US has exported fossil fuels in the oil and gas industry worth $80 billion during the same period. The development indicates that China is much ahead of the US in green technology as countries seek to reduce carbon emissions for a better future and drive ecological sustainability.

“China reached a record value in cleantech exports even as technology prices have fallen sharply,” Euan Graham, a data analyst for Ember, told Bloomberg. Fossil fuels are facing criticism by environmental activists for their role in climate change, as burning them releases carbon dioxide. CO2 is a harmful pollutant and causes major air and water pollution.

In addition, fossil fuels damage the ecosystem and contribute to major health issues like respiratory diseases. While China is selling clean, green energy, which is sustainable, the US is exporting fossil fuels, which could soon be outdated. Clean technology is in high demand, and the Communist country is filling in the void.

China’s clean and green energy will last for a decade or more, while the US fossil fuels get burned the same day, explained Greg Jackson, CEO of Octopus Energy. “Clean energy exports are hardware, which, once a country has bought it, will generate electricity for a decade or two to come. Whereas with gas, the day you buy it, you use it, it’s gone forever.”
