Orange has appointed Thierry Millet as CEO of Orange Money Group, replacing Aminata Kane.

Millet has more than 20 years of experience with the operator, having previously headed Orange Money MEA where he drove mass adoption of financial services in the region and supported the development of regulatory frameworks. He also oversaw the creation of the first electronic money institutions in the region.

Before taking the reins at Orange Money Group, Millet was CEO of Orange Tunisia, where he led the company’s strategic transformation while strengthening commercial and financial performance, customer satisfaction and loyalty. He has also served as head of Orange Romania, helping to establish it as one of the country’s leading operators.

On his appointment, Millet said: “I am proud to join Orange Money Group, a key player in Africa’s economic transformation. Our ambition is clear: to offer simple, varied, accessible and secure financial services for everyone.”

Kane leaves Orange after more than 12 years with the group, including a year as CEO of Orange Money Group. She also held roles such as CEO of Orange Sierra Leone and SVP of mobile financial services and fintech in MEA. Her next move has not been disclosed.
