The Government of Liberia’s Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications (MoPT) has announced the completion of the country’s first-ever Digital Village, a landmark achievement in advancing Liberia’s technological landscape. Spearheaded by Minister Sekou Kromah, the initiative represents a major step toward bridging the digital divide and fostering sustainable development.

Located in the Foya District of Lofa County, the Digital Village is a modern facility designed to bring vital digital services to the local community. It will deliver green-energy internet connectivity to over 50 homes and key institutions—including schools, hospitals, clinics, churches, and mosques—within a 2.5-kilometer radius.

Beyond connectivity, the project introduces smart classrooms to enrich education and equip students with essential digital skills. Further strengthening its sustainability goals, the initiative will also provide free solar-powered electricity to more than 100 households in the district.

The Digital Village was realized through a partnership with Huawei, reflecting the government’s commitment to collaborating with international partners to strengthen Liberia’s telecommunications sector.

Sekou Kromah, Minister of Posts & Telecommunications, Republic of Liberia, said:

We are committed to leveraging technology to drive development and improve the lives of our citizens.
