In a major boost for regional air connectivity, Caribbean Airlines is launching a new route between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Dominica — and increasing flight frequency from Trinidad to the Nature Island.

The new service re-establishes a critical link between Dominica and San Juan just weeks after Silver Airways ceased operations, restoring a vital hub for travelers connecting to and from the U.S. mainland and the broader Caribbean.

The San Juan-Dominica route will feature a convenient 4:00 p.m. departure from San Juan, giving ample time for inbound connections, while the return leg from Dominica departs at 10:00 a.m., offering a more comfortable travel window for residents and visitors alike.

Dominica is one of the most naturally beautiful places in the whole Caribbean.

The move is the result of close collaboration between Caribbean Airlines and the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, part of the country’s broader strategy to improve airlift and boost visitor arrivals.

“We are thrilled with this latest development by Caribbean Airlines, which reinforces the strong partnership between Dominica and the airline,” said Denise Charles-Pemberton, Dominica’s Minister for Tourism. “The rapid reinstatement of San Juan service and increased frequency via Trinidad are strategic improvements that respond directly to the needs of travelers, tour operators, and Dominican nationals abroad.”

Alongside the San Juan launch, Caribbean Airlines is also adding more flights between Port of Spain and Dominica, significantly strengthening connectivity from key markets like New York and Toronto.

Flights from Toronto to Dominica will now operate four times per week southbound and twice per week northbound via Trinidad — a notable upgrade from the previous once-weekly service.

The changes are expected to support increased tourism spending, ease travel for the Dominican diaspora, and contribute to the island’s long-term vision of becoming a more connected and accessible destination as it plans for the construction of a new international airport.

“This will help drive visitor arrivals and support our broader air access goals,” Charles-Pemberton said.

With its lush rainforests, world-class diving, and emphasis on sustainable tourism, Dominica continues to position itself as one of the Caribbean’s most distinctive travel experiences — now with even easier ways to get there
