Empowering Farmers with Digital Tools and Financial Skills

As part of its M-PESA @18 celebrations in the Rift region, Safaricom hosted the Safire Connect Forum in Eldoret.

The event brought together farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and industry partners for a day of learning, networking, and empowerment.

The forum offered farmers from across the Rift Valley a chance to explore digital tools and gain financial literacy.

As a result, they learned practical ways to scale their agribusinesses and improve their income.

According to Fawzia Ali-Kimanthi, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom, the forum was about real change. “We have equipped over 250 farmers with tools, knowledge, and connections that can help transform their farming into thriving businesses,” she said.

“At Safaricom, we are committed to supporting all types of businesses as they embrace technology and grow.”

Showcasing Innovation and Partnerships

The forum featured key partners such as Microsoft, DTB Bank, E-Mobilis, Centonomy, Strathmore Business School, TransUnion, and Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr. Each provided insights into business development, legal support, and digital innovation.

Safaricom also presented a variety of digital solutions tailored to the farming community. These included DigiFarm, an agri-tech platform that offers financing and connects farmers to quality inputs and markets.

Other tools highlighted were Ziidi MMF, Fuliza ya Biashara, and Pochi la Biashara, all built to support daily business operations and improve cash flow.

This forum was part of the broader M-PESA Sokoni, Rift Edition, which runs from 14th to 19th July.

Through roadshows, rewards, and regional activations like Safire Connect, Safaricom aims to drive digital inclusion and support economic growth in rural Kenya.
