Visa Appoints Tareq Muhmood as Regional President for CEMEA
Seasoned executive to lead operations across 86 high-growth markets

Visa has appointed Tareq Muhmood as Regional President for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA). In his new role, Muhmood will lead Visa’s operations across 86 dynamic and rapidly growing markets.

The company currently serves more than 1,800 clients in the region through 23 local offices.

Muhmood brings over 30 years of experience in banking and payments. Most recently, he led Visa Europe’s Value-Added Services portfolio from London.

He joined Visa in 2019 as Group Country Manager for Southeast Asia, based in Singapore. Before joining Visa, he held senior roles at Ahli United Bank, ANZ, and HSBC.

He will be based in Dubai and reports directly to Oliver Jenkyn, Visa’s Group President for Global Markets. Muhmood takes over from Andrew Torre, who now leads Visa’s global Value-Added Services business. That unit has grown into a $9 billion enterprise, with a 20% annualized revenue increase since 2021.

Driving digital payment growth across the region

“Tareq’s extensive expertise in financial services and high-growth markets makes him an ideal choice to lead our fastest-growing region,” said Jenkyn.

“He has worked in 13 countries and built strong partnerships with Visa’s top clients in complex, fast-moving markets. We are confident he will continue to drive our digital payments mission forward.”

Muhmood expressed enthusiasm for his new role, noting his longstanding connection with the region.

“It is an honor to lead CEMEA during this exciting phase of digital transformation,” he said. “Having spent more than a third of my career here, I see enormous potential to expand digital payments across consumers, merchants, and economies. I look forward to working with our exceptional team to foster shared growth alongside our clients and partners.”
