Romania has signed a deal with the German company Armored Car Systems (ACS) to acquire Enok AB light armored patrol vehicles.

The Enok ABs will be incorporated into the Romanian Armed Forces’ operations relying on highly mobile anti-tank defence capabilities.

The vehicles will also be used in missions that require quick deployment of armored cars.

ACS Sales Engineering Head Stefan Koppold explained the cars’ effectiveness on the battlefield in an official statement.

“Our vehicles are an important component of mobile anti-tank systems. We also consider this vehicle concept to be very suitable for the German armed forces. In Ukraine, it is clear that this strategy is very efficient,” he said.

Delivery for the Enok ABs is expected to run until 2026. The number of units ordered has yet to be revealed.

The Enok AB

Based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV, the Enok AB is fitted with a six-cylinder diesel engine, 4×4 all-terrain transmission system, and Level 2 NATO-compliant STANAG 4569 armor that can cover strikes from grenades and 155-millimeter ammunition.

The vehicle can also resist rifle fire, land mines, and improvised explosive devices.

Its operators include Cyprus’s National Guard and the Czech Republic’s 601st Special Forces Group.
