Ms Mary Baine welcomed Minister Mthuli Ncube’s pledge to champion tax advocacy on the continent and mobilise his counterparts for support to the African perspectives in the continental and global tax reforms agenda.
Deputy Executive Secretary, Ms Mary Baine, met with Hon Prof. Mthuli Ncube, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
The ATAF Delegation led by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Ms Mary Baine, met with Hon Prof. Mthuli Ncube, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Zimbabwe, to discuss critical issues on mobilising domestic resources in Africa, and Zimbabwe in particular. The minister reflected that the financing gap continues to increase in the ambit of debt and a global reduction in ODA. He emphasised on the need to increase domestic resource through taxation efficiency in tax collection ,as well as alignment of tax policy and tax administration reforms.

The meeting discussed the use of African expertise, home grown solutions and use of available tools for enhancing tax transparency including through the
African Agreement on Mutual Assistance in Tax Matters (AMATM)
.
The minister emphasised that such tools are vital in mobilising domestic resources but also ensuring coordinated regional efforts on improved DRM.
