Nokia has announced that South African ICT provider, Reflex, will implement its Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) solution to enhance and scale its network infrastructure, enabling faster onboarding for internet service providers (ISPs).

Reflex will utilize Nokia’s 7750 SR-1 BNGs integrated with carrier-grade network address translation (NAT), a move expected to significantly improve space and power efficiency as the company expands its footprint across South Africa, particularly in underserved communities.

Charles Castle, Commercial and Sales Executive at Reflex Carrier Solutions, said, “Integrating Nokia’s 7750 SR-1 Broadband Network Gateways and carrier-grade NAT into our backbone network allows us to activate new ISP services in days rather than months. We’re increasing capacity and intelligence while streamlining operations by reducing space, power, and complexity. This provides a future-proof, scalable, and resilient platform.”

Toni Pellegrino, Managing Director for South Africa and Head of Network Infrastructure for Southern and Eastern Africa at Nokia, emphasized, “By replacing legacy BNGs with Nokia’s 7750 Service Router platform, Reflex can support the rapid onboarding of multiple ISPs and their subscribers with reduced equipment requirements.”
