This year, the team includes 12 students, four lecturers, and a motivational coach. They will compete in four tracks: Network, Cloud, Computing, and Innovation. They will face contenders from over 70 countries, in one of the world’s largest ICT talent events.
Stephen Zang, Deputy CEO of Huawei Kenya, expressed his gratitude to the ministries. “We are proud to see over 6,500 students take part in Kenya. This year’s delegation shows how far we’ve come.”
The 2025 team features strong female representation. Kenyan women have consistently performed well, reflecting the country’s push for gender equity in STEM. In 2024, Kenya won two First Prizes and three Third Prizes, highlighting its growing global presence.
Eric Muriithi Karimi, a finalist from Egerton University, shared his excitement. “We feel ready. I thank Huawei and the government for backing us.”
Huawei continues to support Kenya’s digital growth through its ICT Academies. These align with the Ministry of Education’s mission to build a future-ready workforce.
The competition will run alongside the Global ICT Accelerating Education Transformation Summit. The summit will host policymakers, UNESCO leaders, and educators to discuss innovation in digital learning.
