The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially inaugurated the new Board of Directors for Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB), tasking them with driving the country’s digital transformation by enhancing information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and services for federal ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

Speaking at the inauguration, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, who also serves as Board Chairman, emphasized the administration’s vision to reposition GBB as a dynamic force in delivering national digital public infrastructure and services.

The newly constituted Board includes representatives from key government bodies and stakeholders: Hajiya Rabi’a Adamu Waziri, Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF); Abubakar Abdulqadir Maje, Joint Stock Association (JSA); Kemi Owonubi, Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI); Margareth Ene Ebute, Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy; Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, GBB; Hon. Olulade Olusegun, GBB; Olumbe Akinkugbe, GBB; Mohammed Sani Ibrahim, GBB; and Adama Pindar, GBB.

In his remarks, GBB’s Managing Director, Prof. Ibrahim Adepoju Adeyanju, pledged the Board’s commitment to operational sustainability, strategic realignment, and long-term vision. He highlighted the recent development of the agency’s Integrated Digital Transformation Strategy (IDTS), set to guide GBB’s work from 2025 to 2028.
