French start-up 10 Nord, which specialises in spatial imagery, is about to open a subsidiary in Ivory Coast called 10 Nord Africa, with hopes of securing a share in the West African market.

“10 Nord” is a French company specializing in spatial imagery and other technology related to mapping and remote sensing. It has established a subsidiary in Ivory Coast, making it the first company to do so in the country. The Ivory Coast government and the private sector have been highly supportive of the company’s expansion.

10 Nord’s mission is to provide organizations with tailored tools and solutions that enable them to uncover, understand, and effectively address their environmental and security challenges.

According to the company, “The increase in the trafficking of natural resources, illegal logging, poaching, and the escalation of illegal activities—along with the growing pressure on natural resources and the mounting challenges of preserving carbon sinks—has led 10 Nord SAS to develop geointelligence services to support the protection of sensitive sites. Our team of experts, primarily from the military sector, assists6 demanding clients in the preparation, execution, and oversight of monitoring and protection operations.”

Their services support environmental preservation efforts, particularly in Africa, by providing essential resources to eco-guards dedicated to protecting wildlife and flora threatened by poaching.

Their previous works in Africa includes satellite detection and monitoring of illegal coltan mining operations in the Congo Basin, and Satellite imagery analysis and AIS data for maritime surveillance in the Gulf of Guinea. Both contracts was carried out in 2024.
