Embraer will provide four Super Tucano aircraft for Panama’s National Air and Naval Service, serving as the country’s new surveillance and protection platforms.

The planes will support a range of missions, including combating illicit activities, border surveillance, reconnaissance, and advanced training.

“The Super Tucano is a world leader in its category and will certainly be able to leverage the surveillance, reconnaissance and protection capabilities of Panamanian territory,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.

“Embraer is a strong ally in supporting Panama’s mission to maintain national sovereignty and ensure that its society has its natural wealth and rights preserved,” he added.

Panama’s recent announcement makes it the eighth Latin American country to select the Super Tucano, joining Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, and the Dominican Republic.

Features

Embraer’s Super Tucano multi-mission platform has been chosen by 20 air forces globally.

It is an 11.38-meter (37.3-foot) aircraft with a wingspan of 11.14 meters (36.5 feet).

The Super Tucano can climb at 3,240 feet (987 meters) per minute at sea level, reaching an altitude of 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) in approximately three minutes.

It can reach a maximum altitude of 35,000 feet (10,668 meters).

Its avionics are integrated with a rugged airframe, enabling it to operate from unpaved runways.

The Super Tucano features an advanced communications suite to facilitate coordination between command centers, ground troops, and attack aircraft.

The aircraft’s optical sensors allow for precise target identification and data collection, even in low-light or at high altitudes.

Additionally, the Super Tucano is equipped with a machine gun for self-defense capabilities, reconnaissance, and combat missions.
