Stability in Africa’s energy market, has significant economic benefits, as inexpensive diesel plays an important role in lowering overall inflation.

While stability could spell stagnation for African countries with historically high diesel prices, this factor is great for countries typically boasting low prices.

A low diesel price reduces transportation and manufacturing costs, allowing firms to run effectively without passing on additional costs to customers.

Maintaining a low price for diesel in African countries where it is a primary driver of industrial and commercial operations ensures that critical sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, and logistics remain competitive and sustainable.

Businesses in nations with historically low fuel prices, such as Libya and Algeria, have faced low operational expenses, resulting in stable prices across a wide range of industries.

Additionally, in countries where diesel stays inexpensive, businesses may cut fuel costs, resulting in more competitive pricing and more economic stability.

The agricultural industry, which relies largely on diesel-powered machinery, also reaps major benefits.

Lower fuel costs entail lower expenses for farmers, resulting in more cheap food prices and greater food security.

Furthermore, a country with continuously low fuel costs is more likely to attract foreign investment, as companies seek cost-effective locations to build operations.

Ultimately, keeping diesel prices low in an African country is a strategic advantage that promotes industrial growth, reduces inflation, and raises inhabitants’ general standard of living.

With that said, here are the African countries with the lowest diesel prices for March 2025, according to GlobalPetrolPrices, which last updated its data on the 17th of the month.

While diesel prices for Egypt, Ethiopia, Liberia, and Nigeria were reduced.

Diesel prices for Libya, Sudan, and Angola remained the same, albeit the data was last updated about a week ago, current reports show that as of the 24th of March, 2025, diesel prices for Angola jumped to $0.33 as opposed to $0.219
