Canadian rapper Drake shared a meme to Instagram on Monday poking fun at the name of Toronto Raptors rookie Gradey Dick, who was selected 13th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. He went viral for his red sequin suit, but his mother also stole the spotlight.
Drake, 36, posted a photo of Dick holding his Raptors jersey with the last name and number “1” facing towards the camera.

He added four laughing emojis to soften the blow, but it’s likely not the first “Dick” joke the Raptors rookie has heard in his life.
Drake is a longtime fan of the Raptors and even celebrated their recent NBA championship with Kawhi Leonard.
Gradey Dick has a good sense of humor
Dick, 19, has a good sense of humor, evidenced by his draft night outfit, so he’ll likely take Drake’s joke in stride.
The Raptors rookie has yet to react to Drake’s meme, but it’s only a matter of time.
Even though Dick is known for being a class clown, as he often shows with funny videos on social media, the 13th overall pick also means business.
He helped Team USA win the gold medal at the 2021 FIBA 3×3 Under-18 World Cup, was a McDonald’s All-American in 2022, won the 2022 Gatorade National Player of the Year award and made a few All-Big 12 teams. Drake, meanwhile, has been spreading the wealth to his mentors.
