Africa’s largest stock exchange participated in the global “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” initiative, aligning with International Women’s Day’s theme: “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” This event, marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, emphasizes dismantling systemic barriers to achieve gender parity. The JSE says it exemplifies this commitment, with women comprising 55% of its Board and 78% of its Executive Committee. Additionally, JSE listing requirements mandate that all listed companies establish and report on policies promoting gender diversity at the board level.
