The safety of potable water has been a priority for decades, with treatment plants and monitoring systems playing a crucial role in ensuring water quality. To further strengthen water safety practices, a two-day comprehensive course on Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA) and Quantitative Chemical Risk Assessment (QCRA) will be held in Cape Town (March 24-25, 2025) and Midrand (March 27-28, 2025, WISA headquarters).

This CPD-accredited course (2 CPD credits, WISA/SACNASP/ECSA) is designed for water professionals, engineers, risk assessors, researchers, consultants, and health and safety managers, providing essential tools for assessing and mitigating risks in potable water systems.

Course Highlights

Participants will gain hands-on experience with the Swedish QMRA software program, a free-to-download tool used for estimating infection risks in drinking water treatment plants under various scenarios. In addition, the course will introduce a pioneering QCRA tool developed at Chalmers University of Technology, which evaluates long-term health risks posed by chemicals in drinking water.
