The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded Granzow a contract to provide the armed forces with up to 160 breathing air compressors for diving applications.

Breathing air compressors are used to collect hundreds to more than a thousand liters of ambient air and compress and purify it for respiratory devices such as scuba tanks or medical breathing equipment.

Under the agreement, the Enköping-based company will distribute the “well-proven” Bauer air compressor kits in small, medium, and large variations.

Stockholm noted that the package will be utilized to “fill various types of breathing air cylinders” used by the military.

Granzow will also supply supporting accessories including transport carts and filing ramps to help facilitate tasks for which the compressors are applied.

Delivery of the solutions will take place for up to four years. A 10-year extension will also be signed to maintain the compressors at multiple Swedish Armed Forces facilities.

Granzow is projected to receive 52 million Swedish kroner ($5 million) if all terms of the agreement are exercised.

“The compressors have a long lifespan,” FMV Strategic Sales Officer Mattias Alvan stated.

“The agreement includes models that are portable and there are models that will be installed on board ships. There are also larger ones that are used in fixed infrastructure.”
