Huduma Kenya: Delivering Services With Transparency And Integrity

Huduma Kenya is widely recognized for its transformative, citizen-focused approach to public service delivery.

Established to streamline access to government services, the Huduma Kenya programme brings multiple services under one roof at Huduma Centres.

In an exclusive interview with Africa Business News, Huduma Kenya CEO Mr. Ben Kai Chilumo dismissed claims from a recent survey suggesting that one in three Kenyans had paid bribes for services at Huduma Centres.

“That was a misleading and malicious report, contradicting the PSC Citizen Satisfaction and Impact Evaluation Survey, which does not indicate that Huduma Centres are the most corrupt,” said Chilumo.

According to page 81 of the survey, Huduma Centres are the preferred service points for the majority of respondents. The report highlights the high demand for services provided by the NRB and DCI, which are crucial for issuing identification documents required for both personal and official purposes.

This underscores the need to further decentralize Huduma Centres to sub-counties and introduce mobile service units to better serve nomadic communities in Northern Kenya.

“Huduma Kenya is committed to fighting corruption and has implemented strict anti-corruption measures, including public awareness campaigns and staff training. We also encourage the public to report any bribery incidents to ensure swift action,” added Chilumo.

Huduma Kenya remains steadfast in its mission to provide efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric services.

The CEO has urged the media to maintain accuracy and fairness when reporting on issues that affect public perception and trust in government institutions.
