According to the latest SEC Form 4 filing, the ‘Oracle of Omaha’ Warren Buffett recently purchased $35 million worth of Occidental Petroleum (OXY) stock. Warren Buffett’s investment arm, Berkshire Hathaway, picked up OXY at a price of $46.81 on February 7, 2025. The overall transaction is valued at $35,716,825, making it the largest acquisition of the stock this year.

He acquired 763,016 OXY shares and following the purchase, Warren Buffett now holds an approximate 28.3% stake in the Occidental Petroleum stock. Overall, Berkshire Hathaway currently owns 264,941,431 shares of OXY making it the largest shareholder of the energy company.

Ace investor Warren Buffett is already in profit after taking an entry position in Occidental Petroleum stock last week. OXY has surged to $47.83 on Thursday and Berkshire Hathaway is at a profit of $1.02 per share. Therefore, his $35.7 million investment has turned into $36.49 million in less than a week. His profits are nearing $1 million and could surge further as OXY accelerates in the price.

Investment research platform Fintel has given out a bullish price prediction for Occidental Petroleum stock. According to the price prediction, OXY could reach a high of $62.50 in the next 12 months. That’s an uptick and return on investment (ROI) of approximately 30% from its current price of $46.

Therefore, an investment of $10,000 in OXY could turn into $13,000 in January 2026 if the forecast turns out to be accurate. Even Warren Buffett’s recent investment in OXY stock could balloon to $46.41 million, with more than $10 million in profits in a year.
