Kenya’s Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki, has revealed that the Kenya Kwanza administration, led by President William Ruto, plans to leverage manufacturing and agriculture to transform the country’s economy and achieve first-world status. During his speech, Kindiki highlighted that the Ruto-led government has made significant investments in value chains critical to Kenya’s economy and the livelihoods of most Kenyans, including mining, agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. He cited recent milestones, such as the first-ever bonus payments to sugarcane farmers in Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma, and Siaya counties, as evidence of progress. Kindiki also outlined broader government initiatives aimed at macroeconomic stability, boosting the manufacturing sector, enhancing housing programs, and creating jobs. He expressed confidence in the administration’s trajectory toward fulfilling its 2022 election promises. By leveraging these strategic sectors, the government aims to propel Kenya from a third-world to a first-world economy in record time.
