The Nigerian Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Ahmed Dangiwa, an architect, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing housing challenges.

This was evident from the Minister’s acceptance speech when he was declared the “African Housing Minister of the Year 2024”, during the Africa Housing Awards 2024 ceremony held in Abuja.

The Minister stressed the need for cooperation between the public and private sectors to provide affordable housing.

He highlighted key initiatives under his leadership, including the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates programme, which has delivered over 10,000 houses and created over 250,000 jobs across the country.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Programme has made housing a cornerstone of Nigeria’s development plan.

“This award shows the progress we have made, but there is still a lot to do. “Together we can build a future where every Nigerian has access to safe and affordable housing,” he said.

In his speech, the award coordinator, Festus Adebayo, stressed the importance of housing as a foundation for development.

“These awards are not just about recognition; they are a call to action for all stakeholders in the housing ecosystem to redouble their efforts to close the housing gap in Africa,” he said.
