The world of American sports and, in particular, the NFL world, is in mourning. After a number of heartbreaking losses already this year, ay Lewis‘ son, Ray Lewis III, has passed away at the age of just 28.
The senior Lewis spent 17 years in the league during his playing days, and is best known for his time with the Baltimore Ravens.

Who was Ray Lewis III???
Ray Lewis III was, just like his dad, a football player. He was a player for Coastal Carolina after having made the move there from Miami. He played there from 2015 to 2016 under the Football Championship Subdivision Program.
His time in Carolina wasn’t as long-lived as he would have liked though, being dropped from the program after being charged with third-degree sexual assault. Those charges were dropped.
Ray Lewis III dies
The junior Ray‘s death was announced by his younger brother on Instagram on Friday. Rahsaan Lewis wrote: “Really can’t believe I’m evening typings this but RIP big brother. A true angel. I pray you’re at peace now because I know how much you really hurting.”
Ray‘s sister, Diaymon Desiree Lewis also took to instagram to share her heartache, writing: “Brownie, I love you with all of my heart. You will always be my first love and truly are the definition of a quintessential brother.”?
How did Ray Lewis III die?
Rahsaan‘s statement mentioned that Ray had been suffering, though what exactly that means remains unknown. No further details have been revealed by the family.
