South Africa, Pakistan Special Forces concludes Iqbal-I joint exercises

Special Forces comprising the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) and South African Special Forces Concluded two week-long Iqbal-I joint exercises bilateral exercises in Cherat, Pakistan. The exercise commenced on 15 October 2024 and concluded yesterday. Through joint training, it aimed to refine the drills, procedures, and techniques involved in CT operations.

Commandant Special Operation School attended the closing ceremony as Chief Guest. Colonel SS Lechoenyo, Chief of Staff Republic of South Africa Special Forces also witnessed the Closing Ceremony.

ISPR said in a press release that “the troop displayed the highest standards of professional excellence during the conduct.”

This is the first edition of the bilateral exercises between the special forces of both countries and the second edition will be held next year in South Africa.

Iqbal-I’ focused on advancing counter-terrorism tactics and refining operational procedures through joint drills. It also served to strengthen the longstanding military relations between Pakistan and South Africa, fostering deeper cooperation between the two nations.
