Oshkosh Defense has received a $1.54-billion follow-on contract to supply Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) for the US Army.

The project will continue providing the service with new and recapitalized heavy tactical platforms as well as their corresponding trailers until 2031.

FHTV configurations ordered include the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT A4), Palletized Load System, and Heavy Equipment Transporter.

“We are extremely honored that the US Army continues to invest in the proven Oshkosh Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles,” Oshkosh Defense Chief Programs Officer Pat Williams stated.

“Our continued collaboration with the Army ensures that we deliver exceptional, high-performance vehicles with the latest technologies and active safety features.”

Addressing ‘Evolving’ Requirements

The US Army placed the initial $231.9-million FHTV order for the initiative in June 2024.

Based on the first award, Oshkosh will ship the HEMTT A4 in its wrecker, tanker, cargo, and load-handling variants.

The firm will also provide Common Bridge Transports, related equipment, and kit installs to the army.

“The evolution of the FHTV through technical insertions and recapitalization is a testament to our innovation and focus on increased capabilities,” Williams said.

“By integrating new technologies into the FHTV fleet, we are not only enhancing operational efficiency but also future-proofing our vehicles to meet the evolving needs of the Warfighter.”

To date, Oshkosh has delivered over 71,000 upgraded heavy tactical vehicles and trailers to the US military and its partner forces.
