The album soared to NO. 2 on the US Apple Music chart, hours just after its release, matching the record previously set by Burna Boy‘s ‘I Told Them’, and Davido‘s ‘Timeless’.
Lungu Boy, released on August 9, 2024, is Asake’s third album and it features collaborations with international superstars including Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, American superstar Travis Scott, and Brazilian singer Ludmila.
‘Lungu Boy’ also reached NO. 1 on Apple Music UK Chart thereby making it his third album to reach that milestone following his debut album ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ and his sophomore album ‘Work of Art’.
The album’s success underscores the Nigerian sensation’s rapid ascent in the global music scene, following his previous hits and sold-out performances at iconic venues like the O2 Arena and Madison Square Garden.
Asake’s debut album ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ won the Album of the Year prize at the 2023 Headies Awards. His sophomore album ‘Work of Art’ had the hit single ‘Lonely At The Top’ which set the record for longest charting song on TurnTable Top 100.
