Bell Textron has delivered five 505 Jet Ranger X (JRX) training helicopters to the Royal Jordanian Air Force, completing a contract signed in 2022.

The tranche is the second half of a 10-unit deal ordered with corresponding flight training devices and a computer-based training suite.

Amman accepted the initial batch in November 2023.

‘Major Milestone’

According to Bell, the project’s finalization highlights the company’s dedication to supporting “advanced, reliable, and efficient” warfighter preparations in the region.

The new aircraft’s arrival coincided with a graduation ceremony of the air force’s latest cadets and was attended by Jordanian Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

“The delivery of the final Bell 505 helicopters represents a major milestone in our training program,” Royal Jordanian Air Force Commander Brig. Gen. Mohammad Hiyasat commented.

“These aircraft provide our cadets with the best possible training platform, ensuring they are well-prepared for future challenges. I congratulate our cadets on their graduation and commend their dedication and hard work.”

The Bell 505 Helicopter

The 505 JRX is a five-seater light rotorcraft launched in 2014 for both commercial and military use.

Alongside training applications, the system is used for public safety, health emergencies, and sporting activities.

The single-pilot platform has a length of 42.5 feet (12.9 meters) and a wing diameter of 37 feet (11.2 meters).

It is powered by a 505-horsepower Safran Arrius engine for a maximum speed of 135 knots (250 kilometers/155 miles per hour) and a range of 306 nautical miles (566 kilometers).

The JRX can reach an altitude of 18,610 feet (5,670 meters) and maintain operational endurance for approximately four hours.
