Sikorsky has received a $251.4-million contract to produce UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for Jordan and Croatia.

The choppers are expected to boost the ability of both countries to conduct cargo and personnel transport, border security, counterterrorism, and search and rescue missions.

Work for the contract is scheduled for completion by June 2027.

This is not the first time Amman and Zagreb are procuring the US-made rotary-wing aircraft.

In 2022, the Royal Jordanian Air Force ordered two Black Hawks worth $32.8 million to complement its fleet of 12 UH-60Ms.

The Croatian Army also bought eight of the medium-lift choppers to replace its outdated Soviet-era platforms.

‘Setting the Standard’

A twin-engine platform, the UH-60M serves as the primary medium-lift helicopter of the US Army.

It features improved rotor blades, electronic instruments, flight controls, and aircraft navigation systems over its predecessor, the UH-60A.

Additionally, the chopper boasts an advanced digital avionics suite that provides enhanced situational awareness.

The UH-60M can also fly at speeds reaching 151 knots (279 kilometers/173 miles per hour) and distances exceeding 276 nautical miles (511 kilometers) between refueling.

According to Sikorsky, the Black Hawk was designed to set the standard for rotorcraft safety and performance.
