BAE Systems has signed a contract for 42 million euros ($45 million) to produce the BvS10 vehicle for Europe’s Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV-3N) program.

The deal between BAE and the Czech Republic’s Tatra Defense Vehicle covers 250 BvS10s, with an option for an additional 274.

Parts such as front and rear carriages, which vary according to the vehicles’ mission configurations, will be included in the production.

“Collaborating with Tatra Defense Vehicle allows us to leverage its advanced production technologies while supporting the integration of the Czech defense industry into our global supply chain,” BAE Systems Hägglunds president Tommy Gustafsson-Rask explained.

The prototype phase is scheduled to begin this summer, with serial production beginning by late 2025.

The BvS10

The BvS10 ATV was designed as a highly-mobile armored vehicle for the armed forces of Germany, Sweden, and the UK, fit for various missions ranging from homeland defense to international crisis response.

Its modular design allows it to be integrated as a support vehicle for transport, ambulance, and vehicle repair and recovery missions.

Additionally, its amphibious design lets it operate in coastal waters and flooded fields.

Its operators include Austria, France, and Sweden, which ordered two Mobile Short Range Air Defence systems from Saab to integrate it into its ATVs earlier this year.
