The Kenyans had been received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), with 40 arriving on Thursday and 23 arriving the next day.
This follows the evacuation of 39 Kenyans from Lebanon earlier this month.
“The 39 Kenyans were received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by government officials led by officers from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, family and friends,” as per a statement from the government.
This evacuation is a result of the conflict between Lebanon and Israel, which has left Kenyans in the country very vulnerable.
A multi-agency team led by the State Department for Diaspora Affairs was in charge of the operation, as reported by the Kenyan newspaper, The Star.
“The Department along with key partners such as the International Organization for Migration has been working round the clock to ensure the safety of Kenyans in Lebanon and facilitate their safe return home.”
The Kenyans who had come back home had received counseling from the multi-agency team before departing for their home country.
The government noted that the safety of Kenyans abroad is of utmost priority.
“The government of Kenya, through collaboration with state and non-state actors, remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of its citizens abroad.
This includes not only facilitating evacuations but also providing necessary support to those in need,” the statement said.
The Kenyan government indicated that it will keep working to return Kenyans who have shown a desire to go back home.
Over 7,000 Kenyans have already registered for evacuation after being stuck in Lebanon.
