2Jiajiri Empowers 800 Youth with Skills and Tools
In a major boost for youth empowerment in Elgeyo Marakwet, 800 young people have graduated from the KCB Foundation’s https://foundation.kcbgroup.com/ 2Jiajiri vocational training programme.
Drawn from 10 vocational training centers (VTCs) across the county, the graduates completed a 9-month training course that blends hands-on technical skills, entrepreneurship, and enterprise development.
Additionally, this initiative is part of a year-long partnership between KCB Foundation and Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works programme. The goal is to equip youth with relevant skills to start and grow sustainable businesses across sectors like construction, agriculture, beauty, and mechanics.
During the graduation ceremony, 120 of the graduates received start-up toolkits to help launch their ventures. These toolkits provide essential resources to kickstart operations in their respective trades.
KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo stated, “We are intentional about nurturing entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. Our focus is to use technical and vocational training as a pathway to self-employment for youth.”
