20 Nations Lining Up to Establish Strategic Partnerships

Following the BRICS addition of six countries to its membership, Russia has stated that nearly 20 nations are lining up to establish strategic partnerships with the alliance. Specifically, Russia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov noted the status of the bloc in the ever-growing multipolar world.

Speaking at the 20th Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club in Russia’s Sochi, Lavrov discussed the bloc’s increased prevalence. Moreover, he stated that the modern world has nations seeking “reliable partners” for growth and prosperity. Susbeuqnlty, he pointed to BRICS as a key example of this.

Almost 20 Nations are Seeking Partnerships with BRICS

Since last month’s annual summit, the BRICS bloc has seen increased relevance. There, the bloc added six countries to its membership. Specifically, Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, Argentina, and Ethiopia were invited to join the bloc.

Now, the BRICS bloc has stated that an additional 20 nations have sought strategic partnerships with the economic alliance. Specifically, Russia’s foreign minister noted the development as a key aspect of the changing and evolving global world.

“The world is becoming multipolar, countries want to find reliable partners, and the expansion of the BRICS can be viewed as direct proof of this,” Lavrov stated. Moreover, he expressed the abundant selection of countries that have approached seeking to collaborate with the bloc as a whole.

“Six states have joined the five BRICS members… and almost 20… would also like to establish special relations with the association,” Lavrov stated. Indeed, the statement showcases the growing attraction of the global south. Moreover, as the bloc continues to combat Western influence, that growth could be a continued trajectory.
