1,844 Youth Graduate from KCB’s 2Jiajiri Programme in Nairobi
A total of 1,844 young people have graduated from the KCB Foundation’s 2Jiajiri programme. They received technical training from 14 TVET centres across Nairobi County.
This graduation marks a key step forward in Kenya’s vocational skills and employment efforts.
The programme is part of a year-long partnership between KCB Foundation and Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works.
Together, they aim to train 8,500 youth in sectors with high demand, targeting 70% female participation. The long-term goal is to help create over 43,000 jobs across the country.

Turning Skills into Jobs and Businesses
At the graduation ceremony held at the University of Nairobi square, KCB Bank Kenya Managing Director Annastacia Kimtai said the bank is intentional about reducing youth unemployment.
“We are deliberate about unlocking youth potential through technical skills. We also train them on how to start and run businesses in sectors with strong market demand,” she said.
Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, and State Department of Sports PS Elijah Mwangi also attended the event. Graduates received 738 start-up toolkits to support their journey into entrepreneurship.
The 2Jiajiri programme focuses on high-opportunity fields such as agribusiness, construction, automotive engineering, personal care, and ICT. It combines short-term technical training with business skills, helping youth either find jobs or start their own ventures.
Each intake includes six months of classroom learning and three months of industrial attachment. After training, students are connected to employment opportunities or supported to start small businesses.
Those pursuing entrepreneurship receive toolkits and start-up capital from KCB Bank through the Foundation.
So far, the programme has created over 179,800 jobs. More than 40,000 young people have completed technical training, with KCB disbursing KSh 267 million in business loans and issuing 2,225 toolkits to boost self-employment.
